2018 Spring Conference Offering

2018 Spring Conference

Abundant provision
Selfless sharing

God spoke through His faithful servants in all past spring conferences to revive and encourage our congregants.  Many transformations were noted every year: some courageously took on God’s challenge and calling in their lives, and some seekers became our congregants after the conference.  It also provides great opportunities for brothers and sisters from different congregations to mingle, play, and work together. We pray that God will speak to us and build up His church through this conference.

The budget for the conference this year is around $31 thousands.  In light of the amendment by Revenue Canada regarding the definition of “gift” for tax purposes, personal consumption, such as accommodation, food, etc cannot be part of the “gift.” And this is our registration fee respectively. The remaining funds will be collected through offering (please specify on offering envelop); this contribution can be used for tax purposes. If anyone requires financial assistance, please contact pastoral staff by April 22. Spring Conference planning committee has decided to receive offering starting on April 1 to June 3, total of 10 Sundays. Should there be any difference between the amount collected and the actual expenses, the corresponding surplus or deficit will be included as this year’s general fund income or expenses.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.”
(Gal 6:2; NIV)

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Single mindedness in God

Rev. Michael Lau

There is a Chinese saying that “If we start with a minor deviance and it will be miles away in the end.” (差之毫釐, 失之千里) Everyone who pursues spirituality must pay attention to the vitality of one’s starting point. The starting point should be the theology of God. Then we need to ask how the Divine relates to human? The key is worshipping. Even though people claim to worship a god that was created by the human concepts and craftsmanship, they are worshipping the maker of the idol who has the ultimate authority.

Matthew 5 – 7

Jesus commanded his disciples to make disciples for him in all nations. A key part of these disciple-making efforts is to teach them to obey all that he has taught the disciples (Matt 28:18-20). Matthew was instructed by the Lord and also inspired by the Holy Spirit to put together all teachings of Jesus as in five teaching sections in the Gospel. Sermon on Mount (Matt 5-7) is the first and also the most important spiritual foundation for Christians.

Acts 15:36-17:31

After church resolved a major internal issue, the dynamic of unity has empowered the spreading of the Gospel. Acts 15 end with a joyful affirmation of the instruction of the first church council in Jerusalem. When such good decision needed to spread to the churches Paul and Barnabas had established in the first mission trip, an argument has caused the splitting of Paul and Barnabas into two teams.
